Resin Bound Driveways

A Seamless Finish That Lets Rain Drain Through

Resin bound surfacing mixes natural aggregate with a clear resin and trowels it into one smooth, even layer. There are no loose stones to kick onto the pavement and no joints for weeds to root in.

Because the finished surface is porous, rainwater drains straight through it. That makes resin a good choice for front gardens where the planning rules ask for a permeable surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Resin Bound Driveways Questions

What is the difference between resin bound and resin bonded?

Resin bound mixes the stone into the resin before it is laid, giving a smooth, porous surface. Resin bonded scatters stone onto a resin coat, which gives a rougher finish that is not permeable. We lay resin bound.

Is a resin driveway permeable?

Yes. Resin bound surfacing is porous when laid on a suitable base, so rainwater drains through rather than running off onto the road.

Can resin go over my existing driveway?

Sometimes. If the existing tarmac or concrete is sound, level and drains well, resin can be laid over it. If not, it needs a new base first. We check this at the site visit.

How long before I can drive on resin?

Resin needs time to cure after it is laid. It is usually walkable within hours and ready for cars within a day or two, depending on the weather. We confirm timings on the day.

How do I look after a resin driveway?

A regular sweep and an occasional wash keep it looking clean. Avoid leaving oil or fuel spills to sit on the surface.
